Saka Hair Studio

Servicing an inclusive array of hair textures is at the core of Saka Hair Studio. A black owned business located in the inner city suburb of Melbourne’s Brunswick West. We provide a specialist service for Black hair across braids, weaves, extensions, corn rows, creative styling, hair care products, custom wig making and artist collaborations — uncommon to Melbourne and it’s wider surroundings. Though we don’t neglect other hair types– we meet and exceed industry standards in terms of quality, no matter the texture.

Agata Saka is the creative mastermind behind Saka Hair Studio—initially a salon concept she weaved into fruition.
It started with a simple service operated out of her home, with years of apprenticeships and experience behind her. She saw a gap in the market for curly, coily and kinky hair– an overall lack of service for Black hair types and the varying textures in a salon environment. Subsequently, she developed a commitment to her craft that saw ample growth in the brand. The endeavour was to impart the same care and fearlessness she had with hair onto others, so she created a tangible equilibrium within the salon.

Since 2017 the studio has attracted a clientele made up of forces within their own right, who step through those doors because of who they get to be in the chair, and who they are when they come out the other side.

Saka Hair Studio understands the hustle of building a lifestyle, where you work hard and wind down with your hair out. We’re here to make it full bodied and well rounded, every single time.

Whether your hair is coily, kinky, curly, wavy or straight, this is a service for all hair types and textures. We offer you an experience that fosters a moment to reconnect — and where the best of you is reflected in how you present.

Collective conversations… Talking to GirlBoss + Owner of Saka Studio

This week we're talking to Agata Saka, our friend and the girl boss behind the amazing Saka Hair Studio. After years of dreaming of owning her own salon, Agata founded Saka Hair Studio here in Melbourne and is dedicated to educating herself + those around her about black hair care. We talked to her about her traditions and connecting with her intuition.
